Owings Mills Man Drowns At Berlin Campsight: Investigation Underway

OWINGS MILLS - A 65-year-old man from Owings Mills tragically drowned on Wednesday night in Berlin, MD.

According to Worcester County police, the incident occurred around 5:27 p.m. on Wednesday at the beach area of Castaways Campgrounds near the tiki bar.

The victim, identified as Ronald Charles Lingenfelder, was discovered unresponsive, floating face down in the waters of Sinepuxent Bay. Police stated that several people at the scene promptly pulled Lingenfelder to the beach and initiated lifesaving procedures.

Upon arrival, the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) took over the efforts to resuscitate Lingenfelder. He was transported to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was declared deceased.

The cause of Lingenfelder's death is currently under investigation by the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
