BALTIMORE COUNTY - Shoe City, a Baltimore-based retailer with locations in Owings Mills and Parkville, will be closing its doors for good on May 31.

The company filed for bankruptcy in the federal court of Maryland last week and plans to close all locations and its online platform, ycmc.com. According to the court filing, Shoe City incurred operating losses of ~$280,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $1.76 million in FY 2021.

In the bankruptcy filing, chief restructuring officer Stanley W. Mastil said, “Unfortunately, after 74 years in business, the Shoe City legacy has come to an end.”

According to the bankruptcy filing, Shoe City has approximately 161 full-time employees and 233 part-time employees, with around 61 employees working at its corporate office and warehouse locations.
