BALTIMORE COUNTY - Beginning on April 1, 2023, yard materials will be collected separately from recycling for Baltimore County residents with "Y" days on their waste collection schedule.

The separate collections will run from April 1 through as late as December 14, depending on the address. If a resident's schedule has no "Y" days, their yard materials will continue to be collected with trash year-round.

The county will compost and use all yard waste collected on Y days for parks and other projects.

You can check for Y days on your schedule by entering your address into the scheduling tool on the Bureau of Solid Waste Management's website. Schedules can also be obtained through the County's BaltCoGo mobile app or by calling 410-887-2000.

The county is reminding residents that all yard waste must be placed in "heavy-duty paper lawn and leaf bags or bundled with non-plastic string." Plastic bags or garbage bags will not be accepted.

Yard materials acceptable for recycling collection include grass, leaves, vines, twigs, shrubbery trimmings, branches, and limbs.

Any branches larger than three inches in diameter and three feet in length will not be accepted.
