PIKESVILLE - A tractor-trailer flipped and fell off the side of an I-795 on-ramp bridge from the inner loop of the Beltway on Monday.
According to the Baltimore County Fire Department, I-795 north was shut down for more than an hour starting around 1:45 p.m.
Footage from CHART cameras showed lengthy back-ups on the inner loop of the beltway approaching I-795.
Officials said the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was flown to a shock trauma center by a state police helicopter.
The driver's condition has not been released.
Baltimore County Public Schools tweeted that school buses were preparing for significant delays due to the crash.
The Maryland Transit Administration shut down metro service in the area, and a bus bridge was put in place between the Owings Mills and Old Court stations.
