As January draws to a close and many of us begin to emerge from our post-holiday malaise, let's check out some of the upcoming events in the Owings Mills area!

This weekend is the second annual Chesapeake Bay Boat Show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. The Chesapeake Bay Boat Show will feature over 34 Maryland boat dealers showcasing new boats and marine equipment, including sport fishing boats, performance boats, ski boats, cruisers, cabin cruisers, and more.

St. Thomas' Episcopal Church is holding a book reading of "Father Ed: The Story of Bill W.'s Spiritual Sponsor" on Saturday. Dawn Eden Goldstein, the author of the just-published biography of Fr. Ed Dowling, will be speaking about his life and work, especially the important role he played in the early days of AA.

There are two awesome events in Baltimore City this weekend! The Harbor Point Ice Festival at Harbor Point Central Plaza will feature award-winning ice sculptors using chainsaws and chisels to create spectacular Year of the Rabbit-themed ice sculptures!

Also in the city is the Baltimore Winter Warmup - Craft Beer and Cocktail Festival. Power Plant LIVE! is offering a night of beer and cocktail tasting, live music, and fun! 7 venues at Power Plant LIVE! will be serving up multiple craft beers and warm cocktails.

Irvine Nature Center is offering a LITTLE BIRDS Drop-In Class on Sunday for families to try out the program! Young children are naturally curious about the world outside. There is so much to discover: sticks, pebbles, animals, plants, puddles! Irvine’s Little Birds builds upon this curiosity through a semester-long weekly class for children birth to 3 years alongside a caregiver, you can try this class at Sunday's drop-in session!

Finally, for anyone with young children interested in the outdoors, Oregon Ridge Nature Center is hosting an event for kids called "That's Wild! Ruby the Corn Snake and Friends!" Kids can meet Ruby the Corn Snake and a few of her friends that live at the Nature Center. When you leave this program, you’ll have the information needed to identify that snake in your backyard or in your basement, and we hope you’ll appreciate the benefits of having a snake on your property.

If you plan on attending any events on Sunday, be sure to prepare for rain!
