OWINGS MILLS -New Town High School in Owings Mills informed parents of three incidents of armed shoe theft last week.
According to officials, three armed robberies occurred across the street from New Town High School. All three incidents took place over the course of minutes as kids were dismissed from school.
One of the robberies occurred in a student parking lot right after dismissal. The other two took place at a shopping center a short walk from the school.
New Town High School President James Martin IV sent parents a letter saying that the school is investigating these incidents.
“A light grey Honda Accord with tinted windows drove into the student parking lot during dismissal. Several unidentified individuals exited the vehicle and robbed a student of their shoes. The individuals quickly re-entered the vehicle and drove off,” Martin said.
“The administration team and I were advised, and we immediately contacted our School Resource Office and the Baltimore County Police Department. Officers arrived on campus and began investigating immediately. The investigation is still ongoing.”
Martin finished his letter by reminding students and parents to contact the police about anything suspicious near the school.
“As with this case, it is important for all of us – students and parents alike – to inform school staff or police any time you or your child sees, hears, or reads anything that is suspicious or that may pose a threat to the school or its students.
Sad. terrible, we NEVER even heard of this nonsense when I was going to high school ?? HOWEVER criminals, AND this type of CRIMES will continue, as these Indigents tend to pick SOFT, EASY targets. When you have gun free zones, These criminals know there's LITTLE chance of getting caught. VOTE NO on gun free zones in MARYLAND. Our kids deserve to be SAFE.
