BALTIMORE COUNTY - Martin Luther King Jr. Day provides an opportunity to give back to the communities we love.

As the only federal holiday designated a National Day of Service, many local organizations and non-profits host volunteer events to celebrate King and his dedication to kinship and community.

Below is a list of tools to help connect you to Martin Luther King Jr. Day volunteer opportunities.

Baltimore County Volunteer Opportunities:

Baltimore County has partnered with Hands On Connect to make finding volunteer opportunities easier.

Volunteer Harford:

Volunteer Harford connects residents to life-changing opportunities. There are numerous ways to volunteer in Harford County, whether once a year, once a month, or once a week.

Baltimore City volunteer opportunities:

The city of Baltimore partners with Volunteer Central to provide residents with a listing of volunteer opportunities throughout the city.

Maryland Food Bank:

As demand for food continues to swell during the pandemic, the Maryland Food Bank needs your help more than ever. They're committed to being here for those whose lives have been disrupted, and you can help meet the increased need by volunteering.

MLK Day of Service in celebration of Wes Moore and Aruna Miller's inauguration:

Gov.-elect Wes Moore and Lt. Gov.-elect Aruna Miller invite residents to participate in a selection of MLKJ Day volunteer opportunities.

Maryland Governor's Office of Service and Volunteerism:

Volunteer centers operate around Maryland and act as matchmakers for citizens who want to serve and non-profits and communities who need help. The Maryland Volunteer Center interactive map highlights the location of each volunteer center and the counties they serve.

Civic Works Baltimore:

Join Civic Works for A Day On, Not a Day Off. They have indoor and outdoor volunteer opportunities. Outdoor Project sites will include Civic Works' Community Landscaping, Civic Works' Real Food Farm, Waverly Main Street, and Mount Clare. Indoor locations will include the Baltimore Community Tool Bank, The Loading Dock, and Second Chance.

American Red Cross of Central Maryland:
