On the article O'Malley Finishes Last In New Hampshire Presidential Poll
Michael
7:10 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2013
ReplyI think the negative national press O'Malley is now getting over the prison issue, his so-called "rain tax" and several lackluster appearances on national talk shows has caught up with him. And the brief Q&A he had with Jesse Watters of Fox News was both pathetic and laughable. And thank God O'Malley, the "tax king," will soon be gone as governor of Maryland.

ReplyIt's my understanding that the pending cicada invasion will reach no further north than southern Maryland. And while they may reach the southern part of PG and Anne Arundel counties, they will not affect Howard Co., Montgomery Co., and areas further north.

Wow!......You obviously have some pent up anger on this subject. But Beth, if you had carefully read my post...especially the part about the road to "moral degradation".... you would have realized I was purposely bellicose and being sarcastic. I'm pretty sure we hold similar views.

On the article 11 Men Arrested in First Reverse Prostitution Sting of 2013

ReplySince Maryland, under the leadership of Gov. Martin O'Malley and the Democrats, is speeding down the road of moral degradation - legalizing abortion, legalizing gambling, legalizing illegal aliens, maybe legalizing marijuana, etc. - why not legalize prostitution, too?

On the article Is it Time to Wave “Bye-bye” to the Wave at Baseball Games?
Michael

ReplyWhat the hell is wrong with people? Do we now have "wave" PC police now? People goes to games to enjoy themselves, and if doing the wave is part of their enjoyment, let them have at it. Kids love it, so any problem with it is strictly an adult problem. So if it bothers any of you "adults" out there, just remember when you were a kid and loved the wave, too..

On the article NRA Aims to Arm Teachers, Personnel for School Safety
Michael
1:46 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2013
ReplyI'm an NRA member who believes the current direction of gun control laws is badly misguided. But, I'm not really comfortable with arming teachers and other school personnel. I think a school full of guns greatly increases the odds of an accident..... and significantly more than the odds of a shooting by an armed intruder.
Howard Co. has successfully used specially trained and armed county police officers as School Resource Officers (SRO's) in county high schools since the mid-90's. They instituted this years before the Cops In Schools was created after the Columbine incident. I would much prefer the SRO route on a nationwide basis.

On the article Report: Henryton Hospital to Be Demolished
Michael
3:12 pm on Monday, April 1, 2013
ReplyBack in the 60's and 70's Henryton Hospital housed mentally disabled teens and young adults. I was with a band that played there several times for dances. I also did some charitable solo appearances with a guitar for sing-a-longs. At the time, I lived in Woodstock, only a few miles away. Even then, some of the buildings looked worn and inhospitable (no pun intended).

On the article Empty in Ellicott City: Route 40 Lot

Michael

Last time I looked, there is still a for sale/lease sign on the empty 84 Lumber lot. There is a multiple use shopping/living center going in down the road on Rt 40 beside the Double T diner...where the Forest Diner and Forest Motel used to be.

I'm all for bicycle riding.....as long as riders stay off the narrow two-lane country roads where they are both a nuisance and a menace to safety. There are miles and miles of bike paths in Columbia, and dozens of roads that have marked bike lanes. Why do they have to ride on narrow roadways like Folly Quarters Rd, Sheppard's Lane, Triadelphia Rd, Sharp Rd and others. Passing bikes of these roads require cars and trucks to cross over double yellow lines into the opposing lane in order to obey Maryland's ambiguous and confusing 3 foot clearance law? Being trapped behind bicycles on these roads is frustrating to drivers and greatly increases the possibility of accidents. Get the bikes off these roads!!
