Franklin High School and New Town High School's football teams move to regional championship matches this week. The schedule is as follows: 3A North No. 1 Franklin (10-1, 10.80) vs. No. 2 Milford Mill (10-1, 10.50) Friday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m., at Franklin High School 1A South No. 2 New Town (9-2, 7.80) vs. No. 4 Manchester Valley (8-3, 6.20) Friday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m., at Woodlawn High School Last week in the 2A North regional semifinals, No. 2 Owings Mills lost to No. 3 Dundalk.

New Town High School's football season didn't end the way anyone on the team wanted. But Titans quarterback Shawheem Dowdy earned some level of recognition for his outstanding season, as he was named Most Valuable Player in an annual game which pits Baltimore County All Stars against Baltimore City All Stars. The New Town senior threw for 110-yards and two touchdowns in a 24-6 Baltimore County win, according to Varsity Sports Network, earning him MVP honors. Franklin High School kicker Sean Myers also hit a 29-yard field goal in the county win, Varsity Sports Network reported.
