BCPS Bids Farewell to Chinese Exchange Students

Entertaining ceremony marks end of students' eight-week visit.

Baltimore County Public Schools officials, students, staff and family gathered at the Oregon Ridge Lodge on Monday. The event was the fifth-annual celebration of the district's Cultural Exchange Program with China and a farewell to 31 visiting students and two teachers from Tie Yi School in Xi'an, China. The students, who arrived in the country on Feb. 16, had been staying with host families and attending Hereford, Owings Mills, Dulaney, Towson, Perry Hall and Patapsco high schools. “[The exchange program] prepares children for today’s college. Walsh Takes Charge in Indians' Victory over Hereford

With leading-scorer Devin Hebron out early due to a coach's decision, fresh faces fill void to topple Bulls, 47-43 Wednesday night.

Franklin High School had to rely on its supporting cast Wednesday night at home against Baltimore County opponent Hereford. The team's leading-scorer on the season, junior Devin Hebron, did not tally a point until the final three minutes of the game in the Indians' 47-43 victory. Hebron, who scored 25 points against No. 7 John Carroll earlier this week, entered the game for the first time with less than seven minutes to play in the first half, joining the contest when Franklin held a five-point lead. Benched in the first quarter due to a coach's decision, he was eager to make up for lost time, forcing off-balance shots and passes.
