Four cars were stolen in Owings Mills last week as owners left them unattended to warm up in the morning.
A 2011 Nissan Altima was stolen Friday morning after an Owings Mills resident left the car unattended to heat up in the morning. The Nissan, which has yet to be recovered, was stolen from the 1100 block of Silentglade Court at 7 a.m., and marks the fourth car stolen while left unattended to heat up last week, according to Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct. Two cars were stolen Thursday morning at 6:30 and 7 a.m. from from Phlox Circle and Windblff Court, but both were later recovered. Police remind local residents to not leave their cars unattended with the heat on, as two more cars were stolen in Owings Mills Thursday morning.
With three car thefts this week, police are reminding local residents to not leave their cars unattended to warm up. Two cars were stolen Thursday morning as the owners left them unattended to heat up. At 6:30 a.m., a 2001 Mercury Sable was stolen from the unit block of Phlox Circle. It was recovered on the unit block of Windbluff Court, where the next car, a 2009 Nissan Rogue, was stolen at 7 a.m. That car was recovered later on Wildbranch Court in Owings Mills, according to Lt. As wintry weather weather makes for cold mornings, police remind local residents to not leave their cars unattended with the heat on.
Police are reminding local residents to not leave their cars unattended to warm up, a situation which can lead to vehicle theft. At 6:08 a.m. Tuesday morning, a car was stolen from the 900 block of Joshua Tree Court in Owings Mills. The car was recovered that afternoon. “This happens every year as soon as the weather gets cold,” said Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct. “She had gone out to warm up her car in front of her house and when she came back it was gone.” So, what is Doarnberger’s advice? Brave the cold. “They’re just gonna have to ride in the cold for a while,” he said. “It’s better than having your car stolen.”

I believe it is a crime to leave a car running unattended in MD. which not only do the dumb asses have to go thru the ordeal of having their car stolen but should be in line for a citation themselves. The cops should impound the cars for at least a month. That would get the message across to be cold for a minute or two or be cold for as long as it takes the buss to arrive.   more ›
