Laser Pointer from Upperco Disrupts Commercial Flight

The FAA alerted police to the incident, but officers could not find the person who shined a laser pointer at an airplane.

Someone in Upperco, MD—north of Reisterstown—shined a laser pointer at a commercial airplane flying at 30,000 feet on Monday, Jan. 7, but police could not located the culprit. “We got the call from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) after it was relayed to them by an aircraft, but we searched the area and couldn’t come up with anything,” said Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct. “It’s up in a rural area.” The airline gave the FAA coordinates, which showed that the laser pointer was located in the area of Parrish and Emory roads in Upperco. Police Blotter: Popeye’s Robbed at Gunpoint, Gasoline, Bicycle Stolen

Armed Robbery An unknown suspect robbed the Popeye’s in Owings Mills at gunpoint after jumping over the counter, pointing a revolver at employees and demanding money at approximately 9:51 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The suspect took an unknown amount of money and fled on foot. Second-Degree Burglary An unknown suspect stole an unknown amount of gasoline and diesel fuel from Outside Unlimited in Upperco after breaking the lock to the gated entrance, entering an unlocked storage building and cutting locks to fuel pumps and a power switch between 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and 5:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15.
