Owings Mills-Reisterstown Crime: Armed Robbery, Bicycles Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department's Franklin Precinct, which covers Reisterstown and Owings Mills. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Oakmere Road. Unit block. Between 1:45 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. on May 18. A burglar stole a Mac laptop, $1,500 cash and a jewelry box that contained four gold rings after entering the home through an unlocked side kitchen door. Knights Court. Unit block. Between 1:30 a.m. and 9 a. on May 18. A burglar stole an Xbox, an Xbox controller, pocket knife and $16 cash while victims were asleep. Craftsmen Court. Unit block. Guns, Cash Stolen from Ray Rice’s Reisterstown Home

A handgun, rifle and $2,000 were stolen from the running back’s Reisterstown home between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Two guns and cash were stolen from a Baltimore Ravens’ Reisterstown home overnight on Friday. A rifle, a handgun and $2,000 cash were stolen from running back Ray Rice’s home, on Tufton Springs Road, between 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, and 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, according to a police report. The burglar got into the home through a rear window and ransacked the house once inside, the report said. Rice, 26, moved to Reisterstown from Pikesville in August 2012, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Student Robbed of Marijuana in Franklin High Bathroom

A student told police he was robbed of his marijuana after an uninvolved student witnessed the incident.

Four students were suspended and three charged with robbery and assault after five bags of marijuana were stolen during a robbery at Franklin High School, police said. “The victim admitted to having it,” said Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin precinct. On Thursday, May 9, between 9:30 and 10 a.m., one student carried the victim to the bathroom, where another helped him commit the robbery and a third stood outside to be a lookout, Doarnberger said. “There was an uninvolved student who reported it to the administation, and then we got involved,” he said. Franklin Precinct Crime Down in 2012

Violent crime was down nearly 14.2 percent compared to the five-year average, according to police statistics released Wednesday.

The Franklin precinct, which serves Owings Mills and Reisterstown, is one of nine Baltimore County police precincts that saw across-the-board drops in crime in 2012 compared to the five-year average. According to statistics released Wednesday, 2012 incidents of Part I violent crime—including homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault—were 14.2 percent below the five-year average. Overall Part I crime, including arsons, thefts and burglaries, was down 12.1 percent compared to the five-year average. Overall crime was down 9 percent compared to the average, according to the statistics. Commications Electronics. 9400 Reisterstown Road. 6:45 p.m. March 22. Two robbers, one armed with a gun, stole bank cards, cell phones, iPods and cash from an employee. They took the employee to the back of the store, taped his hands and feet together, stole the goods and fled in an unknown vehicle in an unknown direction. Glen Falls Road. 6200 block. Between 9:20 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. March 19. A burglar ransacked the house and stole hydrocodone and oxycodone medications.

Highmeadow Road. 200 block. 1 p.m. on March 13. Three men were seen climbing out of the rear of the home. It was later discovered that an Xbox 360 and 20 video games were missing. Caraway Road. 200 block. Between 10:30 a.m. and 9:15 p.m. on March 13. A burglar broke into an apartment by prying the front door open and attempted to steal a 50-inch Samsung plasma TV. Owings Mills-Reisterstown Crime: Burglar Breaks Wall Between Businesses

Lakeside Boulevard. 9200 block. 3:23 a.m. on March 9. A burglar broke into Fortune China by breaking the front door lock then stole $100 from a cash register. Once inside, the burglar broke through the drywall to gain entry to Tower Federal Credit Union next door, where there was an unsuccessful attempt to cut open the ATM. Nothing was stolen from the bank. Vintage Ivy Lane. 4300 block. 8:47 p.m. on March 8. A burglar forced open the front door frame then, once inside the home, force open the bedroom door and stole four handbags, one clutch and seven watches. Gentlebrook Road. 100 block. Teen Sent to Hickey After Tanning Salon Theft

A 17-year-old was charged with burglary after stealing the cash register from a Main Street tanning salon in Reisterstown.

A teen was sent to Hickey School after he stole the cash register Thursday from a tanning salon in Reisterstown. The 17-year-old male was arrested in the afternoon on Thursday, March 7, and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree assault and petty theft, according to Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct. Police were called to Tropical Tan in the 700 block of Main Street at 9:20 a.m. Thursday for a report of a break-in. An employee arrived to find the rear door open and the cash register missing.
