UPDATE: Body Found in Reisterstown Ruled a Suicide

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that the death of Darnell William Butler was a suicide.

UPDATED (1:45 p.m.)— The death of a Baltimore man whose body was found in Reisterstown Saturday was ruled a suicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police found the body of Darnell William Butler, 24, of the 3800 block of Ferndale Avenue, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in a wooded area near the intersection of Hanover Pike and Butler Road. A handgun was recovered at the scene, and the cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound, according to a Baltimore County Police press release. The body was found in multiple pieces from "animal activity," according to Bruce Goldfarb, spokesman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police Investigating Human Body Found in Baltimore County

The investigation was spurred by the discovery of skeletal remains Wednesday in Reisterstown.

Baltimore County police continue to investigate the discovery of a dead body, days after uncovering the remains of a human hand in Reisterstown, according to a media advisory. The body of an unidentified male was discovered in the Hanover Pike and Butler Road area Saturday morning. “Police investigators had returned to the area to conduct a detailed search after a human hand had been found earlier in the week near the 300-block of Hedgepocket Way, 21136,” the release states. Police have not yet identified the corpse, nor have they provided a description at this time. The remains have been transported to the the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. Police Confirm Human Hand Found in Reisterstown

Baltimore County Police confirmed that a human hand was found on a Reisterstown property on Wednesday.

Police confirmed that a human hand was found on a Reisterstown property Wednesday morning. The hand, which consisted mostly of skeletal remains, was found in the 300 block of Hedge Pocket Way by a landscaper working in the area. He called police at 11:08 a.m., said Cpl. Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman. Police were awaiting the results of the Chief Medical Examiner’s tests, which confirmed Thursday that what was found is a human hand, according to a press release. The case is still under investigation, police said.

Police: Reisterstown Landscaper Possibly Finds Human Hand

A landscaper found skeletal remains while working in Reisterstown Wednesday morning.

Officials are investigating skeletal remains that that appeared in Reisterstown Wednesday morning. A landscaper was working in the 300 block of Hedge Pocket Way in Reisterstown when he discovered bones that appeared to be part of a human hand. The landscaper called police at 11:08 a.m. on Wednesday, said Cpl. Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman. "We can’t confirm that it’s a hand just yet," Batton said. Police are awaiting the results of tests by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which should be available tomorrow. “The hand is mostly skeletal remains and at this point, detectives are attempting to find how it came to be there,” Batton said.

The hand is a little more than skeletal remains. Skin tissue from the wrist to the finger tips were fully intact. Finger nails were also still present on the remains. It appeared to be old nothing "fresh" .   more ›
