The visiting Indians used a huge second and third quarter to ward off the Lions who battled back with a 26-point fourth quarter effort.
Saturday afternoon at Dulaney, Franklin put together two of its strongest quarters of the season, outscoring the Lions 39-19 over the middle two frames—and it’s a good thing they did. After scoring 31 points in the first three quarters combined, Dulaney exploded for 26 in the fourth, including an 18-2 run to open the period that trimmed what was a 19-point deficit (50-31) to just three with less than three minutes to play. However, key buckets by the Indians Joe Walsh and Devin Hebron kept the Lions from roaring all the way back, and senior guard Greg Ramsey sealed the win with two clutch free throws (in a one-and-one situation) to ice a 62-57 victory. Franklin (5-11) needed a strong team effort to hang on for the win, as Dulaney (6-10) …

Devin Hebron's 24 points aren't enough to offset 22 team turnovers as Franklin falls to the visiting Patriots in sloppy contest.
The Franklin Indians could not overcome 22 turnovers or a poor second quarter as they fell to the Patapsco Patriots 55-43 on Wednesday night. Despite junior guard Devin Hebron leading all scorers with 24 points, the Indians were unable to match the intensity of the Patriots for four quarters. “We had a very selfish output,” head coach Kieran O’Connell said. “There were certain parts of the game when we played a collective effort and did what we were asked to do and carried out the game plan.” [On defense], we were getting destroyed on the boards that resulted in a lot of second chance points for Patapsco.” Franklin led 11-10 after the first quarter, but sloppy play in the second period proved troublesome for the rest of the game. Patapsco …

Highlighting some of the top performers I've covered for Patch and how valuable they are to their respective teams.
So far in my column I’ve touched on the topics of hard-working referees and awe-inspiring coaches, but now I’d like to turn to your attention from those appetizers toward the main course of what I want to do as a columnist, the prime rib or Chilean sea bass (if you’re avoiding red meat as a New Year’s resolution) if you will—the players. I’m going to fill you in on a few of the standout hoopsters that I’ve covered over the past month or so that are, for lack of a better term, worth the price of admission. So instead of wasting $10 at the bowling alley or seeing Little Fockers on a Friday night, I encourage you to come check out these players. After battling to tie the game early, Franklin suffers from a 17 minute stretch without a field goal, falls handily to the visiting Millers, 51-25.
With about five minutes to play in the second quarter, Franklin guard Devin Hebron nailed a three pointer to tie the score at 17, as the Indians seemed poised to go on a run against county foe Milford Mill Academy. However, Franklin's next made field goal came on an Artice Jackson put back—with three minutes to play in the fourth quarter. In between the buckets, the Indians fell victim to a brutal cold streak that spanned over two full quarters (nearly 17 minutes of game time) and had the energy sucked out of them by the visiting Millers, who went on a 34-8 run after Hebron's tying hoop to secure a 51-25 victory. "We got to start building our continuity and right now in our two-man offenses, we're not doing that," Franklin coach Kieran O…

Franklin boys basketball shows improvement, but can't overcome a 39-point effort from the Patriots' Jarred Jones in home defeat.
Pitted against unbeaten and locally ranked John Carroll, Franklin head coach Kieran O'Connell knew he'd have his hands full throughout his team's Saturday afternoon matchup. However, despite losing, 71-46, to the No. 7 ranked Patriots (12-0), O'Connell pulled out several positives for his squad that, in the early stages of this season, has plagued itself with turnovers and inconsistent play. "We were pretty consistent with the effort and intensity I wanted to see," O'Connell said after the game. "One thing was to see with how good John Carroll is, and what they're doing to a lot of their opponents in their conference, we came out and didn't play scared. I was proud of the guys." Like he's done virtually all season, junior guard Devin …
