Franklin High is 'Source School' for Engineers

Franklin High School was recently recognized by the University of Maryland, College Park as a Source School for Engineers.

By Kelly Boyd Franklin High English 9 and HSA Prep Teacher The University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering has identified Franklin as one of their top 25 source schools. Currently, six students from Franklin’s class of 2012 are freshmen in the school of engineering. “The class of 2012 demonstrated amazing potential thinking creatively and solving complex problems,” said AP Calculus teacher Doug Dunkle. “I am confident these six students will represent Franklin very well.” Nine members of the class of 2013 have already applied for admission to the A. I knew a lot of these kids that went to Franklin and later UMD. I think Franklin did a great job of encouraging Physics and Mathematics on those who enjoyed the subjects. There were also a lot of students who went to Franklin and now UMD who wish to join the engineering school in sophomore year.   more ›
