Local Schools Perform as Pets Pose with Santa At Baltimore Humane Society Holiday Open House

Bring your pets and kids for photos with Santa or a Chanukah menorah this Sunday at the Baltimore Humane Society in Reisterstown and listen to area schools perform holiday music.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause, even for dogs and cats.

Don't miss our annual Holiday Lights Open House this Sunday, December 2nd from 1pm-5pm. This free event is fun for the whole family!   Pets and kids can have photos taken by Call the Shots Photography with Santa or a Chanukah menorah. Then enjoy a sweet treat from our Bake Sale while you listen to musical groups from local schools fill the air with song. Take a tour of the shelter, visit our adoptable pets, and stick around for our animal silhouette lighting ceremony at 5pm. You can even dedicate a light or silhouette to a furry or human friend. (read more about the silhouettes below.)

What are the animal silhouettes?  Every year the Baltimore Humane Society and its supporters recognize the special animals in our lives with a Holiday Lights celebration featuring lighted animal silhouettes along our driveway. Each light on the silhouette represents a commemorative memorial someone has purchased in honor or in memory of a furry friend or human. An entire silhouette can also be purchased. All proceeds benefit the animals in our care. The cost of a dedication starts at $10. Lights and silhouettes can be purchased until December 31st and will be on display until January 5th! If you would like to dedicate a light or silhouette, you can print, fill out, and mail in this donation form.

Holiday Lights Open House is also a time when people can bring gifts to our adoptable animals. Check out our Giving Tree adorned with photos of all our adoptable pets!  Pick your favorite and read the back of the ornament to see what your furry friend would like for the holidays. You can come back another day with your present.

This is also a Subaru Share the Love Event in which Subaru awards the shelter with the most animals adopted and/or donations collected that day. Baltimore Humane Society is asking people to bring blankets, laundry soap, dish soap, paper towels, and other sundries from our Wish List in an attempt to fill its van. So bring a donation and share the love!

I have known Susan for many years. We were in Child Study together when my children were young.Read More She is a wonderful woman & I am proud to see her honored for her work with Linda. I also have gotten to know Linda from hanging at Mars & the Dollar Store. Linda & I have become friendly & I have had her over for dinner a few times and recently had a birthday party for her at my house. Linda is a wonderful woman and she is lucky to have Susan working with her. When I had Linda over for her birthday she talked about the award banquet, but she led us to believe the award was for Susan. When I took her home, I saw the award & realized it was for Linda. I'm excited for both women & proud to say that I know them both! Nancy Hoffman
