And don’t forget --  Pet and Kid Photos with Santa -- this Sunday, December 4th from 1 p.m.  to 5 p.m. at our Holiday Lights Open House on 1601 Nicodemus Road, Reisterstown.  Take a tour of the facility, enjoy some holiday treats, and listen to a musical medley performed by McDonogh Middle School Chorus.  At 5 p.m. we’ll hold our annual lighting ceremony of animal silhouettes that line the drive of the shelter.

Want to take part in the spirit of giving this holiday season?  Share the love with Baltimore Humane Society and conduct a blanket and sundries drive.  Bring your donations to Heritage Subaru on Saturday, December 17th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and help us fill a Subaru Outback and the BHS van.  If we get enough animals adopted and large enough donations we could win $20,000 from Subaru! All those donations along with the prize money will go a long way in helping us care for a record number of homeless pets at our no-kill shelter.

The Baltimore Humane Society, a no-kill animal shelter, is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1927 and is not affiliated with any national humane societies or animal welfare organizations.  Nor does it receive any funding from the government.  BHS depends on generous donations from individuals, corporations and foundations in order to continue its day-to-day operations and properly care for the animals at the shelter. For more information about Baltimore Humane Society and how you can contribute, volunteer, adopt, or foster, please visit www.bmorehumane.org, call 410-833-8848, or text the word “PAW” to 80000 to donate. A $10 donation to BHS will be billed to your cell phone.

All of my pets have either been strays or adopted from a shelter. Every one has been a joy to own. Not only are you helping a homeless animal when you adopt, you are taking business away from those horrible puppy mills. Those places should be shut down.

Have you seen the picture of 'Cody' on their website? He looks like the sweetest dog! If I had room for another, I'd head over to meet him!

I have known Susan for many years. We were in Child Study together when my children were young.Read More She is a wonderful woman & I am proud to see her honored for her work with Linda. I also have gotten to know Linda from hanging at Mars & the Dollar Store. Linda & I have become friendly & I have had her over for dinner a few times and recently had a birthday party for her at my house. Linda is a wonderful woman and she is lucky to have Susan working with her. When I had Linda over for her birthday she talked about the award banquet, but she led us to believe the award was for Susan. When I took her home, I saw the award & realized it was for Linda. I'm excited for both women & proud to say that I know them both! Nancy Hoffman
