For the past week, forecasters have been watching a storm brewing along the East Coast. How much will the mid-Atlantic get? When will it arrive? Forecasts differ depending on the model, but one thing is for sure: It's going to get cold, as in the single digits, going into the weekend.

Today the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a 30 percent chance of rain and snow after 3 p.m. with no accumulation expected.

Tonight expect rain and snow before 7, then turning to snow with accumulations of one to three inches possible. It will be blustery, with lows around 16, according to NWS. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph.

The sun will come out Friday but it will do little to offset the cold as temps will reach a high near 20 with wind chill values as low as one degree below zero. It will again be blustery with winds gusting up to 36 miles per hour.

Friday night will be mostly clear with a low around 11 degrees.

Temperatures will return to normal Saturday with highs near 31 degrees.
