Franklin High School's football team will be playing for the state championship at M&T Bank Stadium today at 7 p.m.

Franklin football coach Anthony Burgos led his team to a winning season with a record of 11-2. The Indians have some experience playing in high stakes games as they played for the state title in 2010.

Burgos, a physical education teacher at Franklin, has coached the team for 11 years.

He said the team is excited about both the venue and the chance to win the state title.

"There was a sense of urgency [at practice Wednesday]," Burgos said. "I think the guys are excited about this opportunity to play for the state championship."

Playing at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, is exciting but can also be daunting.

"It’s an obstacle we're going to have to overcome," Burgos said. "The guys just have to stay focused. We'll worry about enjoying that part of the venue after the game."

The Indians will face the 13-1 Linganore Lancers from Frederick County. Franklin beat Westminster, Milford Mill and Huntington in the playoff run to get to the championship game.

Burgos said he's felt the community's support as the team has prepared for the big game.

"The whole community, everyone in Reisterstown, is pretty excited about being the first team in school history to win a state title," Burgos said. "It's great for the whole student body."
