Owings Mills Resident to be Honored at MLK Ceremony

An Owings Mills resident and student at Western School of Technology and Environmental Science will be honored by Baltimore County with a Content of Character award.

A student from Owings Mills who has spent countless hours outside of school volunteering in the community will be honored by Baltimore County next week.

Jacob Badin, a senior at the Western School of Technology and Environmental Science, will be presented with a 2013 Content of Character award during the Baltimore County Office of Human Resources’ 8th annual birthday commemoration for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The ceremony is on Friday, Jan. 18, at Mount Calvary A.M.E. Church in Towson, and dignitaries like Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Delegate Adrienne Jones will be in attendance.

“An avid volunteer, Badin has accumulated more than 1,100 hours of community service since middle school,” according to a Baltimore County Public Schools press release. “At Western, he is a member of the Culinary Arts magnet program, student government, and Future Educators of America, as well as a participant in athletics. Outside of school, Badin attends the Owings Mills Recreation and Parks summer camp and supports local charities.”
