McDonogh Student Nominated to McDonald’s All American Games

Senior Brian “BJ” Andrews was nominated for the 2013 games, which benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

A McDonogh student was recognized among the best prep seniors in 39 states and Washington, DC, as a nominee for the McDonald’s 2013 All American Games.

Brian “BJ” Andrews is one of 16 Baltimore-area basketball players nominated for the 36th annual boys game, which tips off on Wednesday, April 3, at Chicago’s United Center and will be broadcast on ESPN. The 12th annual girls game precedes the boys game and will be broadcast on ESPNU, according to a press release.

Student-athletes were selected by coaches, athletic directors, principals and the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee. Nine boys and seven girls from the Baltimore area were nominated, the release said.

The final lineup of 24 boys and 24 girls selected to play will be announced on Feb. 14 on ESPNU at 5 p.m.

Net proceeds from the games benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The games have raised more than $10 million since 1978, the release said.
