Woman Tells Police TV Stolen To Avoid Payment

A Reisterstown woman was charged with making a false statement to police after an officer found a TV she said was stolen inside her apartment.

One local woman thought she could avoid paying for a rented television by telling police it was stolen. The problem? Police paid her a visit, and found the TV safe and sound at her apartment.

Regina Ann Miller, 51, of the 200 block of Cork Lane in Reisterstown, was arrested and charged with making a false statement after reporting a burglary to officers at the Baltimore County Police Franklin Precinct No. 3.

“It became clear that she was concocting the story to avoid payment on a TV that she had rented,” according to a press release. “An officer met her at her home and found the TV inside her apartment, plugged in and with dust on it.”

This case is a real mystery. Yes, it is a mystery that Ms. Miller didn't call the White House and sign up for a FREE TV from Obama. I mean, they give away cell phones to everyone and anyone who wants them and I END UP PAYING THE BILL for them, so why not get a FREE TV?

I'm over here chuckling at how dumb wannabe criminals think. Did it not occur to her that police would come out and investigate? That is what they do in Baltimore County.

Why would anyone rent a TV. That alone gives away the level of stupidity. The call to police put the garnish on the stupidity. Good work on the cop's investigation. I'm sure having to step into a roach filled home to spot the TV goes above the call of duty.

Why would you expect the police to follow up on a stolen TV? They didnt do anything when my car was broken into in front of my house TWICE in 6 months.

I have known Susan for many years. We were in Child Study together when my children were young.Read More She is a wonderful woman & I am proud to see her honored for her work with Linda. I also have gotten to know Linda from hanging at Mars & the Dollar Store. Linda & I have become friendly & I have had her over for dinner a few times and recently had a birthday party for her at my house. Linda is a wonderful woman and she is lucky to have Susan working with her. When I had Linda over for her birthday she talked about the award banquet, but she led us to believe the award was for Susan. When I took her home, I saw the award & realized it was for Linda. I'm excited for both women & proud to say that I know them both! Nancy Hoffman
