Police say a man armed with a handgun held up the M&T Bank in Reisterstown at gunpoint and fled on foot with money in a backpack Tuesday morning.
“He goes up, pulls out what we believe to be a silver revolver handgun, point it at the teller while telling everybody to keep their heads down,” said Capt. Matthew McElwee, commander of Baltimore County Police Franklin Precinct No. 3. “Suspect gets money from the teller, runs outside and flees on foot towards the rear of the building.”
The robbery happened at 11:05 a.m., McElwee said. Police had K9 and aviation units canvassing the area near the robbery and did apprehend a suspect, but he has since been released. No one has been charged in the incident, McElwee said.
An M&T Bank in Woodlawn was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 1:25 p.m., McElwee said. In that incident, there were two men who robbed the bank and they fled in a vehicle. Police can’t say whether or not the two incidents are connected, McElwee said.
