Police Blotter: Attempted Armed Robbery, Car Windshield Smashed

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department's Franklin Precinct, which covers Reisterstown and Owings Mills. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Attempted Armed Robbery. Unit block of Demel Court in Owings Mills. 11:20 p.m. Sept. 18. Police recovered a Winchester shotgun after two men fought off an armed robber. The armed man approached the two victims and said “don’t move or I’ll shoot,” according to police. The victims fought the suspect—one of them being hit in the face and ribs in the process—and gained control of the gun. The man fled on foot and may have gotten into a car parked on the side of the building.

Destruction of property. 9300 block of Wheelwright Drive in Owings Mills. Between 10 p.m. Sept. 21 and 3:30 a.m. Sept 22. Someone smashed the back windshield of a Honda that was parked in front of an apartment building. The driver parked at 10 p.m., and came back at 3:30 a.m. to find the window smashed, but nothing taken from the vehicle.

First-Degree Burglary. Unit block of Chardon Court in Reisterstown. Between 8 p.m. Sept. 16 and 1:30 a.m. Sept. 17. A 1999 White Acura with a car seat inside was stolen. The homeowner went upstairs, and when she looked out the window at 1:30 a.m., the vehicle was gone. The thief gained entry to the home to get the keys through an unlocked sliding glass door.

Second-Degree Burglary. 5000 block of Painters Mill Road in Owings Mills. Between 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 7 a.m. Sept. 19. Wire was stolen from a storage trailer.

Second-Degree Burglary. Captain Harvey’s Restaurant in Owings Mills. Between 10 p.m. Sept. 16 and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 17. Several bottles of liquor and an empty safe were stolen. Burglars pried open a rear door to gain entry.

Fourth-Degree Burglary. 100 block of Gentlebrook Road in Owings Mills. 6 p.m. Sept. 22. A burglar stole a lawn mower from under the back porch of the home.

Attempted Burglary. 900 block of Lindellen Avenue in Reisterstown. Between 4 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. Sept. 23. Someone tried to enter the home by cutting a storm door screen and trying to pry open the basement door. They also removed screws from a shed. Nothing was taken.

Attempted Burglary. 100 block of Glyndon Drive in Reisterstown. Between 8:40 a.m. and 8:47 a.m. Sept. 19. Someone forced open an apartment door but did not make it inside, and nothing was reported taken.
