Police To Monitor McDonogh Road Traffic

Police plan to set up a speed trailer beginning Monday, between Painters Mill and Winands roads.

If you're not already in the habit, it's time to start following the speed limit on McDonogh Road.

That's because, come Monday, there will be a speed trailer positioned there, and Radar enforcement later in the week, according to police.

The trailer will help show motorists about how fast they're going, said Capt. John McGann, the new commander assigned to the precinct on July 11. It will not be linked to ticketing as there is no speed camera inside, McGann added.

After a few days of operating the trailer, the stakes get higher when police bring out their radar equipment to enforce the speed limit.

At that point, motorists speeding along the stretch of McDonogh Road between Winands Road and Painters Mill Lane will be ticketed, DiCara said.

Residents of neighborhoods along McDonogh Road brought up the speeding issue to police on Tuesday, during the precinct's monthly .

They seem to be acting pretty quickly on this speeding issue on McDonogh Road, thanks to residents' requests. Don't forget, today is the day police plan to put up the speed trailer ... and ticketing could begin this week as well.

Thanks for the info on the accident. I checked with the Pikesville precinct, and this area of McDonogh is not under their watch. However, the record they have of an accident early that morning indicates it was a personal injury. I'm checking with the county spokespeople to see if I can get more information.

This accident at Lesan Drive, as I said July 31, was not a fatal, according to Baltimore County police. One person, the driver, was treated and released. The passenger had serious injuries, but those injuries were not life threatening. I just wanted to make sure you know that. But, that's not to take away from the speeding issue, which I'm looking into. Thanks for the information.

I wish they'd enforce the speed limit ALL along McDonogh Rd. I live on the Reisterstown Road end, and I take my life in my hands just getting the mail on some days.
