‘Destructive Device’ Found in Reisterstown Driveway

The device, which did not detonate, was found Thursday, Jan. 10.

Baltimore County Police recovered a homemade “destructive device” from the driveway of a Reisterstown home on Thursday, Jan. 10.

"It was a piece of cardboard—a cardboard tube—with tape on both ends and a candle stuck in each end," Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct, said.

The device, which did not detonate, had a black powder inside of it, Doarnberger said. It was found in the driveway of a home on the 200 block of Cockeys Mill Road in Reisterstown and taken by the police’s hazardous devices team.

It is not known why the device was placed in that particular driveway, Doarnberger said.
