A burglar ransacked two Owings Mills apartments and stole a total of $70,000 and various items between 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
“They were targeted,” said Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct. “The people who live [in the apartments are] related and the money, we are told, came from a civil court settlement both of them were involved in.”
The apartments, located on the 4800 block of Lyon Heart Drive in Owings Mills, were entered without force since both front doors were open. The burglar stole $20,000 in cash, jewelry and pocketbooks and destroyed two TVs in one apartment, and stole $50,000 in cash, jewelry and cologne from the other apartment, according to a police report.
“It could be [retaliation] or someone who just knew that there were large amounts of cash inside,” Doarnberger said.
