2 Franklin High Students Charged in Robbery, Attempted Robbery of Student

A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old student were charged in two incidents that occurred at Franklin High on Friday.

Two Franklin High students are charged with robbing and attempting to rob another student at the school on Friday.

A 17-year-old student is charged with robbery and a 15-year-old is charged with attempted robbery and possessing a weapon on school property, according to Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct.

At 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, a 17-year-old student robbed another 17-year-old student of $10 in the boys bathroom. At 2:45 p.m., that same suspect and a 15-year-old student tried to rob the same victim in the school’s hallway. A fight started and was broken up by a teacher, Doarnberger said.

“By the time [the teacher] broke it up, he was able to obtain one of the students,” he said. That student was the 15-year-old, who was arrested Friday at the school. He had a knife on him but did not use it, Doarnberger said.

The 17-year-old suspect was arrested Monday at Franklin High and charged with robbery. Both suspects were released to their parents, Doarnberger said.

Two of my kids attend Franklin High (16 and 17 yrs old) and mentioned there was an arrest in the parking lot Friday. I am sure I will hear about the arrest today when I get home from work. When will these parents start actually parenting their kids and stop relying on society to raise them? My kids would NEVER consider behaving like that! So disheartening really.

Should we suspect *black on white crime* since the identities of the criminals and the victims are not revealed?

Ahhh my bad.

I don't have info on the race of anyone involved, suspects or the victim. And you should never assume that because we don't mention race, that has nothing to do with our decision to mention or not mention race. The only time race is mentioned is when we have a description good enough to help the public locate a suspect who is at large. And obviously, you can see race when we post mugshots.

Why's it matter?
Ken Schwartx January 14, 2013 at 09:32 PM
Totally ridicules question re: race and black on white , should we assume you are a white Jewish person? DJ Groove???

It's like the classic "Give me your lunch money," but with guns and police. -____-
DJ Groove January 15, 2013 at 12:13 PM
Of course it doesn't matter. As long as it's the blacks that terrorize the community. It wouldn't be politically correct to point their race, rigth? Now if it's any other race - that'd be a TOTALLY different story, wouldn't it?
DJ Groove January 15, 2013 at 12:14 PM
Ken, your assumption is incorrect. I happen to be an intelligent black person who calls things their real names. What else you got?
Jennifer January 15, 2013 at 01:41 PM
That's very offensive that you would assume that a question like that would come from someone Jewish. What a moronic thing to say!!!
Marc Shapiro (Editor) January 15, 2013 at 02:44 PM
There were no guns involved.

The victum was beat twice in one day. First time by 3 kids and the second by 6 or more kids. The kids who jumped the victum believe they "run" the town. they are false and no weapons were involved. It does not matter about race. It matters thatschools are becomming more unsafe and that nobody here commenting knows anything because i am a primary source. I want this topic removed from the patch website for harrassment. Do you think the suspects and victums want the news spread about the incidents? What is wrong with you.

I am reporting what police have told me.
Kady January 16, 2013 at 04:13 AM
You should EXPECT that the crime's victims and suspects are minors, so their identity is protected. It's a suspect on victim crime. That work for you?
Marc Shapiro (Editor) January 16, 2013 at 05:51 PM
I am merely reporting the news that is of concern to the community. No names have been or will be mentioned because those involved are all under the age of 18.
dinksterrr January 20, 2013 at 05:46 PM
Understand... Marc is only reporting what has already been reported. I believe it was DJ Groove who sent this in the wrong direction.. at the end of the day everyone does have an opinion no matter how we may feel about the opinion they have.

dogs and children share one big thing in common. They both must be trained and socialized early in life or as they mature physically they become increasingly hard to handle, We must hold parents more accountable for the values they instill in their children (and pets). If we raise them right then incidents like this and breed specific legislation will eventually be a thing of the past.
