Walmart Revs Up Randallstown for Opening Day

Randallstown's Walmart Super Center opened Wednesday after a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

As of Wednesday morning the longtime desolate site of Valu Foods in Randallstown is again bustling with retail activity.

The 150,000-square-foot Walmart Super Center opened for the first time at 7:30 a.m. in Liberty Plaza. And by noon the expansive parking lot was full of customers.

"The Randallstown Walmart is a signal that national retailers continue to recognize the opportunities of the Liberty Road consumer market," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held before the store opened. And Monster gave samples of its beverages, and sponsored trick motorcycle shows throughout the day.

The grand opening celebration continues Saturday with face painting, balloons and a visit by McGruff The Crime Dog.

The events are free and open to the public, according to a news release from Walmart.

The Randallstown store has a full grocery store with bakery, deli, produce, meats and dairy; and sporting goods, toys and electronics sections.

It houses a Subway, a SmartStyle Family Hair Salon, pharmacy, one-hour photo lab, garden and vision centers.

In celebration of its grand opening, Walmart donated the following to community organizations, according to a Walmart news release:

On Tuesday evening, Kamenetz attended a friends and family event at the new store. That event included a tour. Randallstown High School's choir and band performed.

The Walmart Super Center is located at 8730 Liberty Rd., Randallstown, at the corner of Liberty Road and Brenbrook Road.

It's open 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
