T. Rowe Price Hosts JA Job Shadow for River Hill Students

OWINGS Mills, Md. – Twenty-five business students from River Hill High School in Clarksville participated in a Junior Achievement of Central Maryland JA Job Shadow at T. Rowe Price in Owings Mills. The event was conducted to expose the students to careers in marketing.

T Rowe Price professionals in marketing management, graphic design, social media and brand strategy gave interactive presentations about the role of their departments. Additionally, students participated in a career panel Q&A where they shared their hopes for the future and asked the professionals about their experiences. They concluded the visit with a “networking lunch.”

The event drew rave reviews from students, teachers and the hosts:

“This opportunity is so beneficial. Just having interaction with so many different professionals from so many different walks of life gives our students exposure to a variety of careers and also helps them make better decisions about their futures. It definitely takes a village, and we are grateful that Junior Achievement and T. Rowe Price are joining us in the effort to develop our young people.”
Teresa Waters, CTE Instructional Team Leader
           at River Hill High School

“The job shadow was cool because, while I already have an internship with a financial advisor, it’s interesting to see what other opportunities are available in a financial firm. Some of the people and presentations were really interesting and made me think about professions I may not have considered. I want to start my own business someday, so this gave me an appreciation for many aspects of what makes an organization successful.”
Cole Gabel, 11th grader at River Hill High School

"T. Rowe Price is a global investment management firm with more than 5,600 associates working around the world. Associates come to T. Rowe Price from wide-ranging backgrounds and experiences, similar to the high school students visiting us to learn about careers in marketing. Today’s event demonstrates our partnership with Junior Achievement, in which we help educators and parents teach children valuable financial lessons. We believe in helping young adults understand that there are rewarding career opportunities in organizations like ours where their diverse talents and skills are valued.”
