Your Patch Editors' New Year’s Resolutions

See what your Patch editors aim to accomplish in 2013 and tell us your New Year’s resolutions!

The coming of a new year is a chance to reflect on the trials and triumphs of the past year, and look to the future. In 2013, Baltimore-area Patch editors have a variety of goals, from weight loss to wedding planning to spending more time with family and friends.

Here's what your Patch editors hope to accomplish in 2013:

Tyler Waldman, Editor of Essex-Middle River Patch:
“Continued good health and good times with good friends. Also, I'd like to take some time away from work to explore foreign lands old and new.”

Kirsten Dize, Editor of Bel Air Patch:
“In 2013 I resolve to keep my email inbox down to a single page and be the best maid of honor for my engaged friend that I can be.”

Sean Welsh, Associate Regional Editor:
“I'm turning 30 this year, so I'm trying to turn back the clock a little and get myself a healthier in the process. I started running more in 2012. I'm planning to keep that up in 2013. My goal is to drop 20 pounds by the time I turn 30—I have six months to do it. And I'll be blogging about it regularly on Aberdeen Patch.”

Marc Shapiro, Editor of Owings Mills-Reisterstown Patch:
“I resolve to learn how to sing, get back into a regular guitar practice routine and get back into exercising and yoga.”

Elizabeth Janney, Editor of Havre de Grace Patch:
“I resolve to write one happy post each day. Somewhere, somebody is doing something positive, and I will find it!”

Emily Kimball, Editor of Perry Hall Patch:
“Plan my wedding and get hitched. Just six months to get this one done.”

Nayana Davis, Editor of Towson Patch:
“I resolve to make more time for family and friends.”

Nick DiMarco, Editor of Lutherville-Timonium Patch:
"In 2012, I quit smoking. In 2013, I hope to put my clean lungs to good use by working out more often."

Marge Neal, Editor of Dundalk Patch:
"I've been promising myself for years I would take a pottery class and learn how to use Photoshop, so I'm hoping 2013 is the year!"

I haven't yet decided if my New Year's Resolution is to stop writing my Patch blog all together or try and do at least post one blog every two weeks no matter what. I suppose I will know which one I do soon enough.

I resolve to be more positive, despite our horrible economy, in 2013. My first born granddaughter was born on the 13th and it has been a lucky number for us because she is a wonderful girl! Also, as always I want to loose weight. Happy New Year to all!

My advice to Marc Shapiro is if you're going to start playing guitar again don't and do watch YouTube.
It's great to learn songs not for note and terrible for morale. Just when you think your getting there you see some kid barely old enough to walk play some amazing tune and wonder why am I doing this. I have a acoustic Gibson Humming Bird, a Martin acoustic/electric. and Ovation Breadwinner (collectors item) and a solid body Guild electric. Ultimate Guitar.com is great for any and all sheet music for the guitar and will automatically change keys for you. See if you remember this little ditty? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYyf6jbjfsg This guy is great and can play anything. He also goes over each note if you want to learn the tune. There are a lot of great sites like that.

I hear you, Buzz. I've been playing for 17 years so I know my way around the guitar pretty well, I just haven't had a good practice routine where I actually study in a while. I plan on practicing more scales/arpeggios and brushing up on theory.

I have known Susan for many years. We were in Child Study together when my children were young.Read More She is a wonderful woman & I am proud to see her honored for her work with Linda. I also have gotten to know Linda from hanging at Mars & the Dollar Store. Linda & I have become friendly & I have had her over for dinner a few times and recently had a birthday party for her at my house. Linda is a wonderful woman and she is lucky to have Susan working with her. When I had Linda over for her birthday she talked about the award banquet, but she led us to believe the award was for Susan. When I took her home, I saw the award & realized it was for Linda. I'm excited for both women & proud to say that I know them both! Nancy Hoffman
