Is Liberty Road part of your route? Then budget some extra time for the next couple of months, state officials said.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect on Liberty Road this week as crews begin a $600,000 resurfacing project, according to the State Highway Administration (SHA).

Nearly 1 mile of Liberty Road will be resurfaced, between the Liberty Reservoir Bridge and Liberty Ridge Court, according to the SHA.

Flagging operations will be in place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays to alternate traffic on the two-lane road, the SHA reported.

Weather permitting, the administration anticipated the project would be complete by early summer 2014.

Resurfacing the road will improve safety and the quality of the drive for the approximately 19,000 vehicles that travel this stretch daily, according to the SHA.

Drivers should modify their behavior by allowing themselves extra time, staying extra alert for workers and new speed limits, slow down and increase following distance.
