Historic Look Back: 15 Mile House

A look back at Owings Mills, as it once was.

Park your car in the lot at 1515 Reisterstown Road today, and you'll see a .

But according to this photo from the Baltimore County Public Library, prior to 1994 you would have seen the 15 Mile House, a bar and restaurant.

It wasn't that long ago -- anyone remember this place? What was it like? Who were the owners? Leave a comment below and let us know.

I remember the 15 Mile House very well. My father, Meyer Stein and his 2 brothers, Harry and Sam were the owners until the last 60's at which time they sold the business. I do not know who they sold it to. In the mid 60's there was a fire that destroyed a good part of building and was rebuilt prior to being sold. When my father had it, it was a neighborhood bar and package good. There was a small area for eating. Food served included crab cakes and pizza. At some point after my father sold it, the 15 Mile House became a hangout for bikers.

I went frequented there quite a bit back in the 80's & 90's. Had a lot of friends that worked & played music there and they steamed the best crabs! There is a facebook group for the 15 here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/51167154505/

The 15 Mile House was a bar/carryout owned by the Antonis family. It was the home away from home for many of us in the Reisterstown/Owings Mills area. Many of good times were shared and lots of live Rock and Blues music. This was a happening place every night of the week. The biggest night that comes to mind has got to be Wednesdays...Never Never night! I speak for many when I say that the 15 Mile house is missed greatly. This was our Cheers!!!

Alexander, My sister is looking for the pictures. She has them all. They include more pictures like already posted but also of the fire and the rebuilding. As soon as she finds them I will get them to you. Thanks for bringing up all of these wonderful and sometimes bittersweet memories.
