In celebration of National Mentoring Month, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake presents the Call to Action Community Forum: Understanding the Impact of Trauma on Youth Development on Tuesday, January 28th. The semi-annual forum will be co-hosted by the University of Baltimore’s School of Criminal Justice. This event is the last in a series of Mentoring Month events celebrating the positive effect mentoring has on young lives.
The forum will feature stories from survivors of childhood trauma as well as a powerful presentation, “Illuminations”, from Dr. Heather Pfeifer, Associate Professor at the University of Baltimore. “Illuminations” is a national training and consciousness-raising program aimed at halting child abuse and neglect as well as improving the quality of services provided to victims and their families. The primary goal of this program is to cultivate systemic change in our community and change the way children are raised and treated.
This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the John Erickson Conference Center at the Charlestown Retirement Community, 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228 from 4:00-7:30pm. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Natalie Meade, Director of Training & Partnership Support, at 410- 856-1505 or email@example.com.
