More About Baltimore Hebrew Congregation
This congregation offers everything from worship and youth religious classes for members to cemeteries and even Brotherhood and Sisterhood groups that are open to non-members. With 1,350 families, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation is the largest Reform congregation in the Baltimore area. It runs the accredited The Day School at Baltimore Hebrew for children from 18 months old through eighth grade. And the congregation has a special program for people in their 20s and 30s called "Chai Life." Interestingly, its 17 acres sit on both Baltimore City and Baltimore County property. Worship and the preschool are in the city, while The Day School at Baltimore Hebrew is in the county. "We are the only synagogue where you can get your marriage certificate from the city or county," said Jo Ann Windman, executive director. One cemetery is on Berrymans Lane in Reisterstown, and one is on Belair Road in Baltimore.
