OWINGS MILLS, MD – Season 25 of Maryland Public Television’s Outdoors Maryland kicks off on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 7:30 pm. Outdoors Maryland is the mid-Atlantic's guide to the outdoors and one of MPT's most popular local programs.
The award-winning series provides viewers each week with thought-provoking stories depicting the region's diverse collection of ecosystems, people, and places. The show's beautiful photography and thoughtful scripting capture Maryland's vast diversity and stunning beauty.
The season 25 premiere episode will feature:
A Chesapeake Passage: Follow some modern-day adventurists as they retrace the trail of Captain John Smith who charted Chesapeake Bay waters more than 400 years ago.
Wild Encounters: Each year the Maryland Department of Natural Resources fields about 10 thousand calls from citizens concerning wildlife. Learn what is being done to ease the problems sometimes created by human/wildlife encounters with the emphasis on safety for both people and the animals.
Sailing the Tanqueray: The Chesapeake Bay is a sailor's paradise. Sailing to a secluded creek on a hot summer day or to a favorite crab house on a brisk fall afternoon brings the promise of adventure.
The series’ producer, Michael English, is a third-generation media professional who resides in Columbia, Maryland, and who has overseen the production of Outdoors Maryland for 21 years. Suki (Susan) Jacobson, the show’s coordinating producer, lives in the Owings Mills, Maryland, and also has been producing Outdoors Maryland for two decades.
