A Family Show at Gordon Center

I think it's always important to introduce children to live entertainment.  Too often too many of them have their heads buried in video games.  Let them know there is actually a real live world out there.  This is something parents should do.

Toward that end, let me tell you about a show coming to the Gordon Center, 3506 Gwynnbrook Avenue in Owings Mills, Sunday, Feb. 10 at 3 pm.

It is called Toon Tunes & Cartoon Capers featuring Baltimore actor Tim Marrone and Maestro Ed Polochick.

Both of these men perform an interactive story about a cartoon character, Mr. No.  This Mr. No lacks self confidence and self esteem so the conductor, the orchestra and the audience try to find a way to coax Mr. No into the world of music.

Hopefully the influence of music will have the power to transform him into a strong, self assured person. This is made more difficult by an evil stagehand.

Prior to showtime patrons can participate in a musical 'Petting Zoo' featuring brass, percussion, string and woodwind instruments. The musicians will have the instruments available to explore and try.

Adult and senior ticket prices are $15, $8 for students and anyone under 10. For information call 410-625-3525.

The event is sponsored by the Peggy and Yale Gordon Trust.

This is going to be such fun for kids of all ages. We need more children's cultural programming in Baltimore - don't miss this opportunity to introduce your family to a wide variety of instruments prior to the concert through the petting zoo, then enjoy a fun, interactive experience in the concert hall. Concert Artists of Baltimore provide the music!
