Baltimore's own John Waters narrates a concert production of his classic "Hairspray" with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
"Beauty and the Beast" is on stage at the Hippodrome in Baltimore.
TEDxBaltimore will be held on the campus of Morgan State University, including speakers like former Baltimore City and Howard County health official Dr. Peter Beilenson, former football player and coach Joe Ehrmann, Rep. John Sarbanes and WYPR host Aaron Henkin.
The water's fine! The annual Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park is one of the most visible fundraisers for Special Olympics Maryland. Raise $50 or more to have a chance to take a dip in the water. You may even have a chance to catch a glipse of celebrities including Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco taking the plunge themselves.
Speaking of water, the Nationa Aquarium celebrates Australia Day.
The Baltimore Ravens have the week off. Thanks to their AFC championship win, you won't find any of their six players selected for the Pro Bowl on the field in Hawaii. But you'll be able to see the rest of the AFC and NFC all-stars (minus San Francisco 49ers players) on the field when the game airs at 7 p.m. on NBC.
The Jewish Museum of Maryland opens a new exhibit about comic book superheroes in the Depression era, an exhibit once curated by Jerry Robinson, best known for giving life to the Joker in "Batman" comics.
