Three Franklin Middle Teachers Achieve National Board Certification
Baltimore County now has 118 teachers that are National Board certified.
Three Franklin Middle School teachers have achieved National Board Certification, along with three other Baltimore County teachers.
Jessica Kooy and Bobbi Leitner, both science and early adolescence teachers, and Kristi Rizzo, a reading, language arts and early and middle childhood teacher, achieved the certification, according to Baltimore County Public School press release.
Teachers from Dundalk Middle, Holabird Middle and Towson High also achieved the certification, bringing the county’s total to 118 National Board certified teachers.
To become certified, teachers submit a portfolio and complete exercises specific to there area of education, and their application is evaluated by panel of 12 teachers, the release said.
“We are proud of these teachers for serving as role models to both their students and fellow educators,” Superintendent Dallas Dance said in the release. “Becoming board certified is just one of many ways that our teachers continually advance their skills and understanding. Through professional development activities and continued education, teachers bring additional expertise to our schools and enrich the academic progress of our students.”
