Stevenson Set to Debut New Ballpark
The university’s baseball team will open Park Field on its Greenspring Campus Wednesday afternoon.
For the first time in 12 years, Stevenson University baseball will have its very own digs—on campus.
In the venue’s inaugural game, the Mustangs take on Messiah—in a matchup of future Middle Athletic Conference rivals—Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Park Field's grand opening ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m., will feature free hot dogs, drinks and giveaways provided by the President’s Office.
Improvements to the field—located behind the Greenspring Valley Road campus—include a 32-foot press box and enclosed dug outs for both the home and away team. In addition to the game field, there is also a new practice infield, bullpen mounds, two batting tunnels and a soft toss/tee hitting area.
Previously, Stevenson played its home games at Ripken Stadium, which houses the Aberdeen Ironbirds, and at the Bachman Sports Complex in Glen Burnie.
Overall, the Mustangs are 7-5 in 2012 with a 1-2 record in the conference.
