Stevenson Basketball Nearing Tournament Berth

The Mustangs' women's basketball team is one game away from a potential berth in the conference championship tournament.

One game separates the Stevenson University women's basketball team from its first Capital Athletic Conference tournament game since the 2007-08 season after a 60-51 win over Trinity, a university statement said.

Reisterstown native Sam Murray scored a game-high 16 points, including 12 on four three-pointers on Saturday. The win marked the first 10-win season for Stevenson (10-13) in five years since the team went 19-10 during the 2007-08 season.

The Mustangs play a CAC road game Wednesday at Mary Washington. Stevenson will officially earn the sixth and final seed in the CAC Women's Basketball Championship with a win or a Frostburg State loss at home against Marymount. Both games tip-off at 6 p.m.
