Soldiers Delight Events, Book Fair Top This Weekend's List of Family Activities

A roundup of ways to keep the kids busy in Reisterstown, Owings Mills and Westminster.

 

Not sure where to take the kids this weekend? Here are five local, family friendly events you can check out.

FLYING OVERHEAD: RAPTORS IN FLIGHT

  • Where/When: Soldiers Delight Natural Environmental Area on Saturday, March 19, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Have you and your kids ever wanted to learn more about Maryland's raptors and how to identify them? Register in advance for this class that will teach identification techniques in a fun setting!
  • Pricing: $5/person

FRANKLIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BOOK FAIR

  • Where/When: Greetings and Readings on Saturday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Author Alisa Weinstein will be there, staff members of the school will give readings and the kindergarteners will sing. All you have to do to participate is visit this website to download the form to bring along. Twenty percent of the proceeds will benefit the school.
  • Pricing: Free to shop/browse

NATURE IN 5D

  • Where/When: Soldiers Delight Natural Environmental Area on Saturday, March 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Why Go: Explore nature with your kids using all five of your senses! Everyone should wear sturdy shoes and bring water and a bandanna. Registration is required.
  • Pricing: $2/person

HAR SINAI CONGREGATION PURIM FESTIVAL

  • Where/When: Har Sinai Congregation on Sunday, March 20, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Celebrate Purim with your whole family! There will be games, face painting and other fun activities.
  • Pricing: Free

14TH ANNUAL MARYLAND AND THE CIVIL WAR EVENT

  • Where/When: Carroll Community College on Saturday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: There are a variety of activities: anything from keynote speakers to exhibits. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Kids ages 10 and older are welcome to come out. This is a different but fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
  • Pricing: Carroll County residents: $35, non-residents: $40
