Police Investigate Possible Connection Between Baltimore, Harford County Burglaries

The burglaries occurred during the month of November at a number of Verizon Wireless stores.

Baltimore County Police are investigating the similarities between four burglaries at cell phone stores in Baltimore and Harford Counties.

In each case a Verizon Wireless store was ransacked and a large number of cell phones were stolen. None of the burglaries showed any sign of forced entry and in each instance, burglar alarms were apparently deactivated.

"Detectives are aware of some similarities between the burglaries at Verizon stores, and we are working with detectives in Harford County to determine if the crimes are connected," said Cpl. Cathleen Batton, a Baltimore County Police spokeswoman in an email.

The following burglaries are being investigated for any possible connection:

Police would not confirm any connection between the crimes, only that they were working across counties to investigate.

Verizon is a multi billion corporation. They can't install a security system that will detect entry into their stores?? This is a blight on their corporate image.

The phones are useless to them as they are all digitally coded and serial numbered. Even in a foreign country they are useless and can never be activated. Goofy crime unless there's something we're not being told.

They call it "jailbreaking" - a way to unlock a phone that has been shut down by the company.
