Local developers and elected officials gathered in Owings Mills Tuesday morning to commemorate construction of three new buildings at the Metro Centre at Owings Mills. The buildings will contain 28,000 square feet of retail space, 120 apartments and 200,000 square feet of office space.

David S. Brown Enterprises officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for three new buildings at the Metro Centre at Owings Mills Tuesday.

“I really feel like the future of this community is taking shape,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.

The groundbreaking ceremony marked the early construction phases of three new buildings at Metro Centre that will contain 28,000 square feet of retail space, 120 apartments and 200,000 square feet of office space. David S. Brown officials plan to finish the buildings by spring 2013.

Kamenetz was joined by Dels. Adrienne Jones and Dana Stein, Councilman Ken Oliver, Councilwoman Vicki Almond as well as officials from Stevenson University and the Baltimore County Public Library.

The Metro Centre is set to feature 1.2 million square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail space, 1,700 apartments, a 120,000-square foot community college and library building, and a hotel with 250 rooms.
