Owings Mills Woman Killed in Finksburg Crash

Traffic was closed in both directions on Rt. 140 at the Baltimore/Carroll County line while police investigated the accident.

An Owings Mills woman was killed in a three-car crash on Rt. 140 at the Baltimore/Carroll County line Tuesday evening police said.

Ruchita Pandya, 32, of Owings Mills, was pronounced dead at the scene according to a Baltimore Sun article.

According to the Sun, the driver of a 2001 Toyota Tundra, William Mark Lehr, of Westminster, crossed the center line on Route 140 in Finksburg and crashed into Pandya's 2007 Toyota Corolla, which was going in the opposite direction. The Corolla was pushed into a 2008 Mercedes SGL320, overturning the Corolla onto the shoulder of the road.

Lehr was flown to Shock Trauma for treatment of injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening and the driver of the SGL320 suffered minor injuries but refused treatment according to a WBALtv.com report.

All lanes of Route 140 in the area were closed while Maryland State Police investigated the crash just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

So sorry for the victim and her family. What a terrible event.
I was on that road yesterday too at about 3:30. As you can imagine, I am thankful that I was traveling at that earlier time.

Something really needs to be done on that portion of Rt. 140. There needs to be a jersey wall or something else to prevent horrible tragedies like this. How many accidents does it take until something is done?

I'm all out of words with the sad news of my cousin who has a husband and 2 kids (4 yr & 2yr old). I do hope something is done to prevent this in the future.

That's a bad section of road. I agree with the Jersey wall suggestion. At least it would help keep people from going over the center line.

A good soul and a dear family member has been snatched away from us. It's sad and very unfair.
