After MCV (Motorcycle Club 5) took a trip with Ride Across America in June, the club started “MCVcares,” its charitable arm.
“We’re thinking we can develop MCVcares into a really nice platform for raising money,” said Carl “Diesel” Galler, the Reisterstown/Owings Mills club’s co-vice president.
Sunday, the club will ride to Cascade, MD, to raise money for care packages to send to Bravo Company, 25th Infantry Division, a unit in Afghanistan.
“Last year we sent, along with the normal sundry items you find in these packages, we sent a complete self-contained pancake breakfast,” Galler said.
The army unit includes a member of the MCV family, PFC Kevin Amick, the son of Galler’s fiancé, Michelle “Cha Cha” Chau.
Sunday’s event starts with breakfast at Full Moon Pub & Grill at 9 a.m., which riders are non-riders are invited to attend for a $12 donation. The ride leaves at 10 a.m. and heads for High Rock overlook in Pen Mar Park. After that, it’s off to lunch in Thurmont and back to Full Moon by 4 p.m.
MCV will also be holding an MCVcares fundraiser at Full Moon on Thursday, Nov. 17, which will feature a DJ, karaoke, drink specials and a Chinese auction. The restaurant and bar is also accepting donations through Nov. 30 and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the care packages.
