The first snowflakes of the holiday season have fallen in Owings Mills.

The National Weather Service is reporting that approximately two inches of snow could accumulate in the northeast. At first, New England and the Mid-Atlantic were only supposed to experience dry, cold weather. Only a few flurries were expected in western New England for the evening, according to the report.

The temperatures will remain low and below average through the weekend, topping out in the 40s.

"Watch out on those roads!" friends yelled after each other while leaving the New Town Starbucks around lunch time Friday. "And happy holidays!"
