Junior Achievement to Unveil IKEA Makeover Thursday
The educational non-profit holds a grand opening for its newly renovated city hall, kitchen and café areas Thursday at its Owings Mills headquarters.

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland will unveil its newly renovated Owings Mills facility Thursday morning as 65 5th graders take part in the educational non-profit’s activities.
The Owings Mills-based program recently received a $13,757 donation from IKEA to cover the cost of new furniture and labor for a makeover of the 10,000 square foot mini-city that includes retail stores, financial institutions, a newspaper office and radio station.
The grand opening of the new JA BizTown coincides with a visit from 65 5th grade students from Severna Park Elementary, who will spend the morning voting, running companies and conducting bank business.
Junior Achievement is an in-school and after-school program for students K-12 that focuses on workplace preparedness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The program is taught in 80 schools in central Maryland, where students get in-class instruction before visiting the JA BizTown. This school year, the organization will serve 6,000 students.
