Two local organizations are extending folks the opportunity to support their community and return home with a beautiful, fresh Christmas tree at the very same time.

From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends, The Optimist Club of Reisterstown-Owings Mills is stationed at Whitcraft on Main Street, selling trees from a “secret tree farm in Pennsylvania”, according to committee member Gomer Werm.

With almost all of the proceeds bound for different community causes, including the Needy Family Christmas Program and Youth Appreciation Week, The Optimist Club is selling trees ranging from in price from $22 tabletops to $120 10-foot Frazier Firs. Douglas Firs ranging from five to nine feet in height are priced from $40-$75. Tree stands and wreathes are also available.

“They were cut  Monday and Tuesday,” Werm said. “They are not very old. That’s what makes them special.”

Meanwhile, the Reisterstown Recreation Council and the American Legion Reisterstown Post 116 are teaming up to sell trees out front of the Hannah More School from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to around 8 or 9 p.m. on the weekends.

Douglas Firs are priced at $7 per foot and Frazier Firs are a buck higher at $8 per foot, according to Legion Commander Tim Clarke.

With each organization splitting the proceeds down the middle, Clarke is encouraging community members to support their kids’ sports programs, as well as their veterans.

“The trees are beautiful and they are cut local and cut very recent,” Clarke said. “They’re big beautiful, rounded trees.”
